Chapra gramin junction

Good news for lnjpitians that a junction near about our college is just started.

Chhapra (CPR): With a view to providing more facilities to travelling passengers at Chhapra Junction station of N.E.Railway, good shades will be shifted to nearby Chhapra Gramin and Revelganj stations.

Rajiv Mishra, General Manager of NE Rly, Gorakhpur, while talking to newsmen at the local Circuit House on Monday said, “Chhapra junction has been Class A station in NE Rly generating a revenue of over Rs 60 crore annually. The railways have decided to provide more facilities to passengers at this station.”

He said a master plan for the development of this station has been prepared and work will start on it soon. When asked about the conversion of gauge of Chhapra-Thawe section from meter to broadgauge, the GM said a demand for Rs 150 crore has been made from the railway board and once it is released work will be taken up.

Talking about road over bridges (ROB) at Chhapra, the GM said proposals for three ROBs have been received from the government across the railway track from southern side of the town to northern side, the GM said and added proposals are being examined. When it was suggested to him to name the ‘gramin station’ after Jayaprakash Narain as the Jayaprakash University is also located there, the GM said, “If this proposal comes through local MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy, this would be recommended to the railway board for consideration. Saran DM Kundan Kumar also appreciated the suggestion.”

Earlier, the GM along with Saran DM and other officials inspected the junction and discussed the feasibility of expansion of the station on the northern side as the bypass road over NH-19 is likely to be completed soon and this will reduce the traffic load on the southern side of the town.
